Descriptions of Events

As an aid to newcomers and also to those who have not shot certain events and are wondering what it's all about, we're compiling brief descriptions of all the scheduled events that are open to the public.

Sporting Rifle High-Power

Sporting Rifle High-Power is center fire national match shooting made deer rifle friendly. Shot at 100 yards, the course of fire includes sighting shots and 32 shots for record divided among prone, sitting/kneeling and standing. There are both slow and rapid fire stages. This event is open to center fire rifles weighing less than 8-1/2 pounds with either scopes or sights. Slings are allowed, but target shooting coats and specialized target equipment are not. For folks who have never shot in competition before, bring a .22 rim fire and shoot the match at 50 yards with a reduced target. Also open for air rifles.
For questions, please call Shorty 233-7285 or Ron 234-4184.

Handgun Silhouette

Handgun Silhouette is a suite of matches crafted to appeal to a wide range of hand gunners. Pistols from .22 rim fire to center fire magnums have a place on the firing line. The targets are steel silhouettes of chickens, javalina, turkeys and desert big horn rams that fall with a resounding "clang" when hit. Shooting positions include standing and freestyle.
For questions please call Larry 238-1158.

Airgun Field Target

Airgun Field Target was started in the 1980s by air gun hunters who wanted to compete outdoors with their hunting rifles. We have added pistol field target to the match. The targets fall when hit, and are reset immediately without delaying the match. Courses of fire are around 30 shots for air pistols and 50 shots for air rifles. Only lead pellets may be used. Some very powerful air rifles are not allowed because they damage the targets. See the Idaho Airgun Field Target Club web site or American Airgun Field Target Association web site for more information.
If you are not sure about your rifle, or have any questions please call Ron 234-4184.

Introduction to Airguns

Introduction to Airguns is new this year. Air gunners meet in the club house on the first Wednesday to practice and try out new air guns. Field targets, bell target and 10 meter pistol as well as sighting in are part of our un-structured program. It is a great opportunity to shoot with other air gunners and find out about different airguns and airgun shooting. Because we use steel backstops, only lead pellets may be used.
For questions please call Ron 234-4184 or Ray 237-0748.
